Dance, Colour and Technical Grace Unite in GANNI and lululemon
A new collaboration arrives in Dubai, marrying lululemon's performance innovation with GANNI's Copenhagen sensibility. Inspired by the euphoria of 1980s dance culture, the collection brings together leopard print, ruffles and bold hues with technical fabrics engineered for movement.

The stage is set in a dance studio, where movement becomes the language of joy. GANNI and lululemon have created a collaboration that draws directly from the kinetic energy of 1980s dance culture, channelling that era’s uninhibited spirit into a collection where technical performance meets Copenhagen design. Twenty two pieces arrive as a testament to what happens when two design philosophies converge around a singular idea: that movement is one of life’s most profound forms of self expression.
The collection reads as a celebration of contrasts. Lululemon’s proprietary Nulu and Softstreme fabrics, engineered for breathability and freedom of motion, are reinterpreted through GANNI’s distinctive lens. Signature lululemon silhouettes, including the Define Jacket, emerge transformed by leopard print, ruffles and unexpected colour combinations that feel both bold and considered. It is a dialogue between restraint and exuberance, between the clinical precision of performance wear and the playful irreverence of fashion.
Ditte Reffstrup, Creative Director at GANNI, drew inspiration from the films that shaped her childhood, where dance became a metaphor for freedom and determination. She found in those narratives a visual language rich with possibility, the colours and energy that defined an era. That essence permeates every piece, from leg warmers that reference dance studio culture to boleros and headbands that elevate movement into everyday dressing. The accessories and footwear extend this vision, each element considered in relation to how bodies move through space.
Jonathan Cheung, Global Creative Director at lululemon, speaks of movement as the collection’s foundation. When Reffstrup shared that her own practice was dance, everything crystallised around that truth. What emerged is a collection unified by the understanding that technical fabrics and thoughtful design serve not vanity but the profound human need to inhabit one’s body with confidence and joy.
The campaign accompanying the launch features actor Jennifer Beals and artist METTE, shot in a dance studio where rehearsal and performance blur into one another. It captures the emotional resonance of the 1980s filtered through contemporary sensibility, showing movement as power and connection as the ultimate luxury.
Available exclusively at lululemon’s Dubai Mall store from 15 October, the collection represents a moment where fashion and function align with something more intangible: the human impulse to move, to express, to feel alive within one’s own skin.
