The pianist and the trumpeter emerge from shadow into the glow of stage light, the grand piano gleaming black beneath the teal curtains that frame Nobu Hotel San Sebastián’s intimate performance space. Iñaki Salvador, the donostiarra pianist whose touch carries both precision and lyrical warmth, settles at the keys. Across from him, American trumpeter Chris Kase raises his instrument, its brass catching light as he prepares to open the evening.

New Duo, formed in 2020, brings together two internationally recognised musicians whose complementary talents have developed a repertoire that weaves original compositions through the architecture of jazz classicism. Salvador’s understanding of harmonic depth and Kase’s fluid phrasing create conversations between the instruments, the kind of musical dialogue that demands the full attention of those assembled to listen.

The evening unfolds on 19 November from eight until ten in the evening, with each guest welcomed into the space with two specially crafted cocktails drawn from Nobu’s bar programme and a thoughtful selection of aperitivos designed by the hotel’s culinary team. This pairing of live music with carefully considered food and drink transforms what might otherwise be a concert into something altogether more immersive: a complete sensory experience, the kind that rewards both the engaged listener and the casual enthusiast.

The collaboration between Nobu Hotel San Sebastián and Club Cantábrico Jazz marks the second iteration of these evenings, a partnership that recognises the particular alchemy between accomplished music, refined hospitality and the kind of cultural engagement that defines a city’s character. Tickets are priced at 55 euros and are available through both organisations’ ticketing channels.
