The red lacquered case opens to reveal a world of theatrical ceremony. S.T. Dupont’s Prestige Writing Set draws inspiration from the grand drama of Opéra national de Paris, its interior fitted in deep crimson and enriched with gilt metalwork that evokes the ornament and opulence of the opera house itself. The Line D Eternity XL pen sits at the heart of this collection, a writing instrument born from the marriage of French craftsmanship and operatic narrative.

Two distinct interpretations compose this release. The Prestige Writing Set, limited to 150 numbered pieces, presents the pen alongside complementary objects in a complete presentation. The Art of Fire Set, numbered to 180, tells the story through an alternative composition. Both draw from the symbolic vocabulary of the opera: gold leaf details suggest architectural grandeur, whilst the enclosed theatre of the case itself frames each pen as though upon a stage.

The collaboration captures an invisible presence, a narrative tension between what is seen and what remains suggested. The pens are finished in deep burgundy lacquer and black resin, accented with 18 karat gold plated details that recall the ornamental schemes of the Palais Garnier. Each numbered set arrives as an objet, a collector’s piece that holds its significance beyond the practical act of writing.

S.T. Dupont, founded in Paris in 1872, has long held the métier of fine writing instruments and leather goods, crafting objects of ceremony and consequence for those who understand luxury as the refinement of purpose. This collection extends that philosophy into the realm of cultural patronage, aligning the house with one of Europe’s most storied cultural institutions.
