The UAE cricket team secured a commanding victory over Oman at the ICC Academy Dubai in Match 145 of the ICC CWC League, winning by 42 runs in a performance that demonstrated both batting depth and bowling discipline.
Batting first, UAE accumulated 226 for eight across their 50 overs, building a total that proved insurmountable for their opponents. Adeeb Usmani and Rahul Chopra each contributed 47 runs, anchoring the innings with measured aggression, while Basil Hameed added 43 to the scorecard. Shakeel Ahmed claimed three wickets for Oman, keeping the contest competitive through the middle overs.
Oman’s reply fell short at 184 for nine. Mujibur Ali’s 65 provided resistance, but the target demanded sustained batting across the full 50 overs that did not materialise. Khuzaima Bin Tanveer, Muhammad Rohi and Awais Ali Shah each took two wickets, restricting Oman’s scoring through disciplined pace and spin bowling.
Hameed’s recognition as Player of the Match reflected his contribution across both disciplines. His composed batting in the middle order and capable bowling demonstrated the calibre of all round cricket that distinguishes performance at this level of international competition. The victory reinforces UAE’s progression through the league phase of what remains one of the ICC’s most significant pathway competitions.
