Greystone Mansion, the storied Beverly Hills residence that belongs to the Maybourne collection, became a garden of extraordinary proportions when Fleurs de Villes staged an immersive celebration of The Gilded Age. The floral architecture that greeted visitors was nothing short of theatrical: towering arrangements in blush, burgundy, marigold and violet cascaded down the mansion’s grand entrance, framing the mahogany doors in an abundance that spoke to the opulence and grandeur the period embodied.
The installation, which unfolded across the weekend, brought together the craft of two celebrated floral practitioners. Claridges Flowers, known for its meticulous approach to botanical spectacle, executed a breathtaking grand staircase installation within the mansion itself, transforming the interior with the same lavish sensibility. The arrangement married classical technique with contemporary vision, using the architecture of the space as both canvas and collaborator.
What made the installation particularly resonant was its conversation with the mansion itself. Greystone’s architectural vocabulary, those mahogany details, the proportions, the golden light filtering through the windows, spoke the same language as the florals arranged within and around it. The roses, dahlias, delphiniums and trailing foliage were not mere decoration but rather a continuation of the story the house itself tells.
Maybourne’s stewardship of Greystone as part of its collection brings a particular sensibility to such moments: the understanding that legendary properties deserve to be animated, celebrated, and shared in ways that honour their heritage whilst creating something entirely of the present. The Fleurs de Villes installation did precisely that, reminding visitors why certain houses, certain moments, and certain collections endure.
Claridges Flowers has already committed to returning when the holiday season arrives, promising to bring festive enchantment to the mansion in the months ahead.
