Brad Pitt selected an evening jacket of singular refinement for the screening of Heart of the Beast at the 74th San Sebastián International Film Festival. The dinner jacket, tailored by Anderson & Sheppard, draws its cloth from Vitale Barberis Canonico’s ‘The Bingley’ collection: an 8-ounce black camouflage wool jacquard that operates as a study in restraint and technical virtuosity.

The camouflage pattern lives within the weave itself, not printed upon the surface. Each warp thread was lifted individually across the loom, a painstaking process that allows the pattern to emerge gradually as light catches the cloth at different angles. Tonal and darkly rendered, the design reveals itself only to those who look closely, transforming what might appear at first glance as immaculate black cloth into something possessed of hidden depth and movement.

The Bingley collection dedicates itself to the most formal occasions: dinner jackets, ceremonial wear and evening jackets that demand both precision and poetry. Alongside this jacquard rest dupioni silks with their characteristic textured, lustrous surface, and Super 130s worsteds woven with wool, mohair and barathea, each contributing a whisper of sheen that distinguishes evening wear from the everyday. George Cortina, who styled the look, has collaborated with Anderson & Sheppard for more than twenty five years, bringing to each selection a practised eye for the nuances of formal dressing.
