Tom Wood has opened a pop up installation at Dover Street Market Beijing that reads as a retrospective of sculptural thinking. The jeweller’s practice, refined across two decades, centres on forms that emerge from pure material experimentation: silver and stone manipulated until they reveal their own logic, their own geometry. What distinguishes this work is the refusal to decorate, to add, to ornament for its own sake. Every surface, every curve, every angle serves the whole.

The installation, titled A Journey in Craft, occupies a considered space within the market’s Chaoyang location. Framed photographs document the hands at work, the process of making, while the pieces themselves sit elevated on white pedestals in carefully composed arrangements. Clustered silver rings rest on their plinths with the stillness of sculpture; a tall vessel crowned with pale folded forms catches light with deliberate drama. The visual language is restrained and architectural, allowing each work to command attention not through spectacle but through presence.

The exhibition unfolds across displays that pair image with object, drawing the eye to the relationship between concept and form. Rings in silver and stone sit alongside larger sculptural works, each connected by the same approach to volume and void, to the spaces within matter as much as the matter itself. It is jewellery conceived as three dimensional thought, each piece a considered statement about what silver and stone can become when craft is given its full measure of patience and precision.
