Duck & Waffle has introduced two new lattes to its beverage selection, each designed for a different mood and moment. The Chocolate & Mint Matcha Latte combines the grassy, delicate notes of matcha with rich cocoa and a cool whisper of mint, creating a drink of real complexity: earthy and sweet at once, with a subtle herbaceous finish. The Pumpkin Spiced Latte, by contrast, wraps the palate in warmth, its spiced notes of cinnamon, nutmeg and clove melding softly with the sweetness of pumpkin and the velvety texture of steamed milk.

Both drinks reflect a growing sophistication in the coffee house repertoire, moving beyond the straightforward espresso or cappuccino to offer drinks with genuine layering and consideration. The matcha preparation, in particular, requires a deft hand: the powder must be whisked properly to avoid bitterness, and the balance between the green tea’s natural astringency and the chocolate’s sweetness demands precision. The pumpkin spiced version, meanwhile, speaks to a seasonal sensibility that has become part of the café calendar, though this iteration appears calibrated for a refined palate rather than an overwhelming sweetness.

Both are available now at Duck & Waffle’s location on 30 St Mary Axe in the City, accessed via the restaurant’s lift to the upper floors of the distinctive building. They join the restaurant’s existing coffee programme, which emphasises quality in every cup.
