Twelve custom pet portrait pendants arranged on a neutral surface, each featuring a hand-painted animal portrait set against gemstones including turquoise, opal, chrysoprase and lapis lazuli, framed in gold and diamonds. The collection includes portraits of dogs, horses and ponies, some in oval formats and others rectangular or heart-shaped, each surrounded by diamond or gemstone bezels in white or yellow gold.

Irene Neuwirth’s custom pet portrait pendants transform beloved companions into wearable art. Each piece begins with a hand painted portrait of the animal, rendered with meticulous attention to likeness and character. The jeweller then sets the miniature painting against a carefully selected gemstone base, choosing from opals with their ethereal play of light, turquoise in shades from pale sky to saturated teal, chrysoprase’s soft apple green lustre, or the deep midnight blue of lapis lazuli.

The collection visible here speaks to the breadth of Neuwirth’s vision. A pair of dogs emerge in grayscale against turquoise and pale opal, their expressions caught with tender precision. Horses and ponies stride across chrysoprase and turquoise backgrounds, their chestnut and bay coats rendered in warm miniature detail. A black horse portrait is framed within a heart of turquoise, the diamond surround catching light like scattered stars.

Each pendant is bordered by a frame of white or yellow gold scattered with brilliant cut diamonds or set with gemstone beads that echo the stone beneath. The oval and rectangular formats recall the cameo tradition, yet the hand painted realism and luminous stone grounds place them entirely in the contemporary moment. Because every portrait is drawn from a specific animal, no two pendants are ever alike. The customisation extends to the choice of stone, metal and surround, allowing each owner to commemorate their companion in precisely the way that feels most fitting.

Irene Neuwirth’s pet portraits are available by custom commission through the jeweller’s studio.
