Marbella Club convenes stewardship leaders for third La Concha Conversations

The legendary Andalusian resort brings together thinkers and changemakers to explore how we might care for the world more thoughtfully. Over three days, the conversation moved from biodiversity to the deeper work of stewardship.

The Marbella Club, nestled in the foothills above the Costa del Sol, opened its grounds this year to La Concha Conversations III, a three day summit built around the theme of stewardship. What began as a commemoration of the resort’s 70th anniversary has matured into something more urgent: a platform for imagining how hospitality and community might shape a more resilient future together.

The programme brought together leading thinkers, practitioners and emerging leaders to explore stewardship across eight dimensions: land, water, air, business, finance, hospitality, education and innovation. Jeremy Lent challenged the gathered audience to consider what an ecological civilisation might demand of us, moving beyond the extractive systems that have long defined progress. Sir David King connected the latest climate science to the necessity of decisive action, while Karen E. Wilson explored how we might actively shape what comes next rather than passively inherit it.

A screening of How to Live on Earth invited guests to reconsider their relationship with nature and the built systems that surround us. Yet the conversations that emerged from these talks pointed to something more intimate than policy or technology. Stewardship, the summit suggested, begins not with grand gestures but with relationships: between people, across generations, between communities and the natural world. The question posed to each participant was personal. What part can each of us play? What influence, knowledge and resources do we already have that might help create the conditions for genuine resilience?

Held within the Marbella Club’s gardens and terraces, with the Mediterranean visible beyond, the event embodied what it explored: a community gathered in a place of beauty, bound by the shared conviction that how we care for what has been entrusted to us will determine what we leave behind.
