Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week, that most consequential convening of global thought leadership and innovative practice, extends an invitation of considerable distinction to digital artists across the world to participate in the fourth iteration of its esteemed Global Digital Art Competition. The endeavour poses a question of profound importance: how might artistic vision serve as an instrument through which we might imagine, articulate and ultimately manifest a more resilient future?

The competition welcomes submissions from artists aged eighteen and above, seeking original digital works that engage with the thematic architecture of Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week 2027, whose unifying principle is captured in the phrase “Securing Systems. Sustaining Growth.” Participants are encouraged to contemplate how creativity, technological innovation and the boundless dimensions of human imagination might converge to construct foundations for enduring prosperity and systemic resilience.

The scope of acceptable submissions demonstrates commendable breadth and ambition. Artists may present static compositions, moving image works of considerable sophistication, interactive installations, generative art pieces and immersive web based experiences. For those who harness artificial intelligence, generative systems or creative coding methodologies, transparent documentation of these tools and their contribution to the final vision remains a fundamental requirement.

The conceptual framework within which artists may operate encompasses five carefully considered thematic pillars: Future Energy Systems, Advanced Technology and Artificial Intelligence, Water, Food and Resource Security, Investment and Infrastructure, and Human Development and Prosperity. This multifaceted approach permits artists to engage with sustainability across numerous registers and disciplines.

Recognition extends to the distinguished panel assembled to adjudicate submissions, comprising luminaries from the international arts establishment. These tastemakers, drawn from the most prestigious institutions and creative enterprises, shall evaluate entries through the lenses of conceptual rigour, artistic vision and originality, potential for meaningful impact, representational sensitivity and accessibility of vision. The winning submission and two finalists will be ceremoniously honoured during Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week 2027 on 13 January, with selected works exhibited throughout the duration of the event itself.

Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week, hosted by Masdar, has long positioned arts and culture as essential catalysts within the broader sustainability discourse. Through digital art, complex sustainability narratives transform into visually arresting, intellectually rigorous and emotionally resonant experiences, enabling artists to engage audiences through innovative and unprecedented channels.

The competition is realised in partnership with District1795, a pioneering technology ecosystem dedicated to advancing arts and culture across the Middle East and North Africa, thereby constructing the digital infrastructure that underpins the region’s flourishing creative economy.

Submissions close 16 November 2026. Complete guidelines and application details are available through the official Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week portal.
