AMELS 80 Sold for Spring 2029 Delivery

Damen Yachting has announced the sale of an Amels 80 scheduled for delivery in spring 2029, adding another yacht to the growing series of 80-metre superyachts within the Amels Limited Editions portfolio. The sale, announced on 10 July 2026, comes as the Amels 80 continues to establish itself as one of the most significant recent additions to the Dutch builder’s range.

The yacht will be the owner’s first. Boatsters Black and Bjorn International Brokerage represented the client in the transaction, with the decision to select the shipyard reportedly informed by the combination of an established build philosophy, a defined delivery programme and the experience associated with Amels. For a first-time owner, that balance between an established platform and personalisation is particularly relevant: the Amels 80 is designed as a semi-custom yacht, allowing its owner to shape the vessel while drawing on a proven technical foundation.

At 79.8 metres in length, the Amels 80 has a beam of 12.5 metres and approximately 2,200 gross tonnes. The exterior is designed by Espen Øino International, while the interior architecture is by Sinot Yacht Architecture & Design. The yacht forms part of the Amels Limited Editions concept, in which a proven design and engineering platform provides a structured basis for individual interiors, finishes and other elements.

That approach has become central to the Amels proposition. Rather than beginning each project from an entirely blank page, the Limited Editions range establishes a foundation that has already been developed and tested, while leaving meaningful scope for an owner’s personal vision. Damen Yachting describes the Amels 80 as combining proven naval architecture with custom interiors and efficient construction timelines. The result is a format intended to offer greater certainty during a complex build without removing the individual character expected of a private superyacht.

The Amels 80 was introduced in 2022 as the largest design in the Limited Editions range. The first hull entered the water in September 2023 before travelling to the Amels shipyard in Vlissingen for final outfitting, and the first yacht was delivered in 2025. Since then, the series has continued to expand. PANGEA was delivered in October 2025, while NETTO II was delivered in 2026. Another Amels 80 was launched at Vlissingen in February 2026, demonstrating the continuing development of the platform.

The latest sale therefore sits within an increasingly established family of yachts rather than representing an isolated project. In March 2026, Damen Yachting announced the sale of a fifth Amels 80 shortly after its arrival at Vlissingen, with that yacht scheduled for delivery in autumn 2027. The company has also highlighted that more than 50 Amels Limited Editions yachts have been delivered, underlining the experience behind the semi-custom approach.

The appeal of the 80-metre platform also lies in its combination of scale and a comparatively coherent design language. The yacht includes an Owners’ Deck, seven suites, a Sun Deck and Beach Club, as well as dedicated space for tenders. Its engineering specification includes hybrid propulsion, reflecting the wider direction of the Amels portfolio towards more efficient technologies.

The design has been developed with a particular emphasis on the relationship between the yacht and its surroundings. Espen Øino’s exterior architecture uses flowing forms and expansive areas of glass, while Sinot’s interior concept draws on natural materials and restrained tones. These elements are not simply decorative: on a yacht of this scale, the relationship between circulation, natural light, outdoor space and the sea is integral to how the vessel is experienced.

Amels’ heritage provides the wider context for this design philosophy. The company traces its origins to 1918, when the Amels family began building vessels in the Netherlands. Its early work included wooden fishing boats, steel tugboats and coasters before the business moved towards yacht building. The first Amels superyacht, KATALINA, became an early expression of the company’s direction in the sector. Amels was acquired by Kommer Damen in 1991 and subsequently became part of the Damen family’s wider shipbuilding group.

Today, Amels yachts are built in Vlissingen in the south-west of the Netherlands. The yard moved there in 2003, and the location has a shipbuilding history stretching back more than seven centuries. Damen Yachting identifies Vlissingen as the home of its Amels construction and outfitting operations, where a large workforce of craftsmen and women contributes to the construction of the company’s superyachts.

The Amels name has therefore retained a distinct connection with Dutch maritime craftsmanship even as its yachts have become increasingly sophisticated in their technology and design. Amels became part of Damen in 1991, while Damen Yachting itself was established as a division of Damen Shipyards Group in 2019. The wider group brings experience across commercial, naval and specialist vessels, giving the yachting division access to a broader industrial and engineering heritage.

The new Amels 80 is scheduled for delivery in spring 2029, giving the owner several years to develop the yacht’s individual character before she enters service. The build timeline also illustrates one of the defining principles of the Limited Editions concept: using an established platform to create a highly personal yacht without beginning the engineering process from the ground up.

As the Amels 80 fleet grows, the design is becoming an increasingly familiar expression of the company’s current approach to superyacht building. Its significance lies less in novelty for novelty’s sake than in the careful balance between a recognisable platform, contemporary engineering and individual authorship. For an owner taking the first step into yacht ownership, that equilibrium can be particularly meaningful. And for Amels, it represents the latest chapter in a century-long Dutch shipbuilding story—one still being written in Vlissingen, one carefully considered yacht at a time.
