Photographer Rei Shito has turned his lens toward Tokyo’s cultural figures to explore how Aspesi’s autumn and winter collection moves through the city’s creative spaces. The collaboration captures spontaneous portraits of personalities from Japan’s design, art and cultural scene, each wearing pieces from the FW26 lineup.

The subjects emerge as themselves: a woman in a charcoal pinstriped blazer and black vest, cinched with a buckled belt, stands against Tokyo’s commercial signage; an elder in cream trousers and a plaid shirt layered beneath a striking coral wrap positions himself amidst temple grounds and verdant trees; a man in round spectacles wears Aspesi’s black nylon jacket beside miniature bonsai, their gnarled trunks mirroring the precision of tailored fabric. Each portrait speaks to how refined, purposeful dressing carries meaning across generations and settings.

The palette tilts toward understated neutrality: charcoal greys, cream, navy, offset by small gestures of colour. The collection reads as considered rather than declarative, allowing wearers to inhabit public and private Tokyo landscapes with ease. Shito’s eye captures light as it falls across fabric and face, the incidental geometry of urban backdrops, the quiet confidence of people who understand their own style.
The exhibition is on view at the Aspesi Tokyo store through November 12.
