Augures: woven ritual in autumnal checks and layered prints
For autumn and winter 2026, Pierre Louis Mascia transforms fabric into language, weaving eighteen prints and a palette of deep green, burgundy and sand into silhouettes that feel tactile before the hand touches them.

The check arrives first, dense and intentional. Deep green, burgundy and sand weave through it, a warp and weft that demands to be seen. This is the Augures collection from Pierre Louis Mascia for autumn and winter 2026, a season built on the notion of divination transformed into garment, each piece emerging as a talismani against an unknowable world.

The collection takes its title from an archaic gesture: the reading of omens. Within that framework, fabric becomes a surface to interrogate. Mascia has composed eighteen distinct prints, each designed to mingle in stratified, never final combinations. The geometry of the check speaks to pattern as prophecy, the way the eye might read meaning into lines and intersections. Botanical references, geometric schemes and marks reminiscent of ikat and toile de Jouy exist alongside one another in what the designer has conceived as a visual language where every mark, like the veining of a leaf, contains a portent.

The colour palette unfolds in warmth and intensity. Burnt browns and bottle green are traversed by sudden flashes of fuchsia, tones that evoke earth, embers and theatrical velvet. The layering extends beyond colour into silhouette: flowing dresses and light coats sit alongside relaxed tailoring, pieces that feel conceived as protection as much as adornment. Scarves are presented as necessities. The fabrics carry their own texture, sensible to the eye before contact, worked through jacquard, devore and other craft techniques that speak to the hand of the maker.
