Belmond Hotel Caruso’s infinity pool merges with the Amalfi horizon

The infinity pool at Belmond Hotel Caruso does what few others manage: it vanishes. The eye travels seamlessly from the pool’s crystalline edge across the Mediterranean to the dramatic green mountains that rise beyond, creating the illusion of water melting into sky. A yellow umbrella anchors one corner of the terrace, its saturated warmth catching the Amalfi sun, while beneath it a quilted lounger waits in pale sage. The architectural trick is precise, yet what lingers is the sense of boundlessness.

The hotel itself clings to these cliffsides with the ease of something that has always belonged here. Terraces unfold at multiple levels, each one designed to frame a different facet of the view: the jagged coastline, the villages that tumble down to the water, the play of light across stone and sea. Climbing wisteria and bougainvillea in deep red soften the edges of the architecture, while the pool deck remains open to the elements, designed for those who come here to feel the sun on their skin and the salt air in their hair.

This is the Amalfi Coast stripped of cliché and restored to what made it magnetic: the sheer verticality of the landscape, the quality of light that photographers pursue, the sense that you have arrived somewhere rare.
