Feng Chen Wang’s autumn collection draws from the visual language of ancient texts, translating mythic beasts into woven narratives across fabric. The designer has long moved between worlds, the ornamental and the austere, the narrative and the minimal, and this season finds those opposing impulses in quiet harmony.

Velvet pieces in rich brown tones carry the ghosted impression of legendary creatures, their forms emerging and dissolving across the surface like half remembered stories. A fitted turtleneck in chocolate velvet becomes the anchor for a vision that values understatement over decoration. Against this softness, structured denim trousers in deep indigo and charcoal establish a counterpoint: clean lines, considered proportions, the weight of fabric that holds its shape. The denim skirts balloon gently from the waist, their volume suggesting movement and ease without sacrificing silhouette.

What makes the collection cohesive is not any single statement, but rather the dialogue between materials. Soft fabrics that invite touch sit alongside denim’s architectural rigour. A velvet turtleneck pairs with wide denim; a sculptural denim skirt balances a tailored top. The collection reads as something made for bodies moving through cities, people who need clothing that can hold both quietness and presence, that speaks without announcing.
The mythic beasts woven into the fabric are not rendered as dramatic symbols but as subtle textural marks, visible only in certain light. It is a restraint that feels generous: the designer offers texture, narrative and craft, but asks the wearer to discover them rather than declare them.
