Grand Seiko’s Ushio 300 Diver emerges as a refined response to the demand for smaller, more precise diver’s timepieces. Powered by Caliber 9RB1, a U.F.A. movement engineered expressly for sports watches, this watch achieves an annual accuracy of plus or minus twenty seconds paired with a seventy two hour power reserve, condensing into a compact case dimensions that rival nothing in the haute horlogerie diving category.

The dial presents two distinct characters. The Ushio Blue model displays a wave like gradient across its face, a tide inspired texture that shifts between deep navy and lighter azure, while the Ushio Green variant offers the same graduated pattern in jade and seafoam tones. Both showcase diamond cut rectangular hour markers filled generously with LumiBrite, ensuring legibility whether in tropical shallows or the darkened depths where artificial light fails. The power reserve indicator, repositioned to the dial side after decades of convention, signals the movement’s capability without requiring a case back view.

Practicality extends to the wrist. Grand Seiko’s newly developed diver’s clasp combines an extender for wetsuit accommodation with a secure lock mechanism and three step micro adjustment, addressing the real world concern of fit across varying conditions and thermal states. The case maintains three hundred metres water resistance, a depth requirement that serves both professional and recreational diving.

The Ushio 300 Diver is available as reference SLGB023 in blue and SLGB025 in green.
