Jaguar Type 01 achieves 0.23 drag coefficient through wind tunnel mastery
The forthcoming Jaguar Type 01 electric saloon has been sculpted through more than 7,000 wind tunnel tests to achieve an aerodynamic drag coefficient of just 0.23, the product of meticulous refinement in the design studio.

The Jaguar Type 01 emerges from a process of relentless aerodynamic refinement. Over 7,000 wind tunnel tests shaped and reshaped every curve and contour, transforming initial sketches into a vehicle that slips through air with remarkable efficiency. The resulting drag coefficient of 0.23 reflects not showmanship but engineering discipline: each millimetre of the bodywork earns its place through measurable performance gain.
The frontal profile speaks to this precision. The swept headlamps and tapering bonnet flow seamlessly into a body that narrows as it moves rearward, minimising the turbulence that would otherwise drag against forward progress. This is aerodynamics that the eye recognises as elegant rather than merely efficient, where form and function dissolve into one another.
Electric range and efficiency
The forthcoming all electric Type 01 translates this aerodynamic discipline into genuine range. With an estimated all electric range of up to 720 kilometres or 450 miles on the WLTP cycle, the car rewards smooth, flowing driving with the kind of efficiency that makes long journeys feasible. The predicted energy consumption sits at 18.5 kWh per 100 kilometres, figures that will be replaced with certified test results once independent verification is complete.
As the vehicle enters production, customer models and final features remain subject to refinement prior to launch. This Type 01, captured in amber light against darkness, represents engineering at the threshold of delivery: shaped by thousands of hours in the wind tunnel, ready now for the road.
