KAMEH Desert Rose sculptural installation, four and a half metres in length with crystalline structures rising over two metres in height

Within the spare, luminous spaces of Design Doha’s 2026 biennial, a four and a half metre sculptural presence will command attention through sheer architectural clarity. KAMEH, the Dubai collectible design studio, has conceived a work of crystalline ambition: horizontal forms interrupted by structures rising more than two metres, their geometry drawn from the intricate natural phenomenon of the desert rose mineral.

The Desert Rose collection emerges from something profound in nature’s vocabulary. Beneath arid landscapes, over the passage of considerable time, crystalline formations develop their interlocking structures, resembling petals carved from stone itself. For KAMEH’s founder and creative director Nikita Erokhin, these formations speak far beyond visual inspiration. They embody resilience, transformation and the slow, patient forces that shape both landscape and human consciousness alike. Where others perceive barrenness, Erokhin locates wonder.

The studio’s approach to collectible design rests on a conviction that function and artistic expression need not compete; they coexist as equals. Each creation emerges as an authored work, defined by conceptual rigour, material exploration and singular character. Rather than allowing utility to dictate form, KAMEH treats familiar objects as opportunities for artistic investigation, dissolving the established boundaries between functional design and contemporary sculpture.

The presentation in Qatar carries particular resonance. The same desert rose formations informed Jean Nouvel’s architectural language for the National Museum of Qatar, whose intersecting forms have become an enduring expression of the country’s cultural identity. By interpreting this shared natural reference through its own sculptural vocabulary, KAMEH establishes a dialogue between art, architecture and the region’s distinctive landscape.

This work signals an evolution in KAMEH’s practice towards increasingly architectural and immersive expression. Following the studio’s presentation of Collection 0.6 at Design Miami in December 2025, where crystalline geometries, dyed wood and tonal contrasts established a visual language informed by geological structures, the monumental scale of this new work represents an expansion into space itself. The surrounding environment becomes integral to the experience of the object, transforming the viewer’s encounter from observation into immersion.

In this expansion towards the architectural and immersive, KAMEH affirms a singular vision: that the most refined collectible design operates not as decoration, but as a profound conversation between material, form, natural wonder and the enduring human capacity to perceive beauty in transformation.
