Within the contemplative heart of central Athens, an exhibition has emerged as a sanctuary for the meditative viewer. Kylie Manning’s new and recent paintings create an immersive environment that dissolves the customary boundaries between observer and observed, between the corporeal and the ethereal. The artist’s work unfolds across the gallery spaces with a poetic restraint that speaks to the geographies of her upbringing and the accumulated weight of personal memory.

The exhibition presents paintings that exist in a liminal space, where bodies, landscapes and recollection converge and blur like forms glimpsed through cloud cover. Manning’s palette ranges across tonalities that evoke atmospheric conditions and emotional weather, her brushwork suggesting movement and transformation. The compositions invite prolonged looking, rewarding the viewer’s attention with layers of meaning that emerge gradually, as though from mist.

Curator Akis Kokkinos describes the presentation as a deliberate counterpoint to the density of the surrounding city. Within the Foundation’s carefully considered galleries, the exhibition becomes a temporary refuge where visitors are invited to contemplate our symbiotic relationship with the land, with nature and with the cosmos itself. The framing of boundaries becomes less distinct, allowing the work to speak to universal experiences of displacement, belonging and the passage of time.

Manning’s practice has long concerned itself with the intersection of the personal and the universal, examining how individual experience connects to larger patterns of geography and belonging. Her paintings possess a contemplative quality that resists easy interpretation, instead creating space for each viewer to bring their own memories and associations to the work.
