Fifteen years after its epochal introduction, MB&F resurrects the Legacy Machine N°1, the visionary timepiece that inaugurated an entire collection and fundamentally altered perceptions of contemporary haute horlogerie. This resurrection, the LM1 EVO, represents not merely a nostalgic retrospective but rather a thoughtfully considered evolution, one that preserves the architectural integrity of the original whilst embracing the technical and aesthetic refinements that have distinguished the EVO collection.

Conceived in collaboration with the esteemed Kari Voutilainen and Jean François Mojon, the original LM1 established an unmistakable visual and mechanical identity. The LM1 EVO retains this essential character: the dual independent time displays remain, each governing its own escapement, whilst the signature 14mm flying balance wheel continues its elegant vertical oscillation. The vertical power reserve indicator, that singular hallmark of MB&F’s design philosophy, persists as a focal point of the dial architecture.

Yet considerable refinement distinguishes this evolution. The case dimensions have been recalibrated to a more proportionate 42mm, enhancing wearability without compromising the commanding presence the original commanded. The power reserve has been extended to an impressive 60 hours, affording the wearer substantially greater autonomy between servicing intervals. The power reserve indicator itself has undergone meticulous redesign, presenting the information with renewed clarity and visual elegance.

Practical Sophistication Meets Horological Heritage

The LM1 EVO incorporates the comprehensive technical achievements of the EVO collection itself. Water resistance extends to 80 metres, whilst sophisticated shock protection safeguards the intricate mechanism beneath the sapphire crystal. A particularly felicitous addition arrives in the form of interchangeable rubber straps, permitting the wearer to adjust the aesthetic presentation according to occasion and preference without compromising the watch’s essential character.

The aesthetic presentation offers two distinguished expressions of refinement. The titanium iteration presents a rhodium plated dial plate of silvered elegance, offering a contemporary neutrality that complements the industrial precision of the case material. The rose gold variant showcases a captivating green dial plate, a chromatic choice that speaks to MB&F’s uncompromising pursuit of visual distinction and horological artistry.

Production has been strictly limited to 33 pieces across both variations, a constraint that reflects MB&F’s commitment to exclusivity and the artisanal methodology that governs each timepiece’s creation. The LM1 EVO thus arrives not as a mass market reinterpretation but as a collectors’ proposition, a refined statement of enduring innovation and technical mastery.
