Memo Paris has created West 34, a fragrance conceived as a love letter to New York itself. Named for Macy’s legendary Herald Square location at 34th Street, the scent distils everything that makes the city pulse: its restless energy, its magnificent jumble of voices and cultures, its absolute freedom.
Gael, the perfumer, has composed the fragrance around sparkling bergamot that opens like Manhattan light through tall windows, followed by blooming jasmine that speaks to the diversity and grace moving through the streets. White musk lingers long after, a gentle anchor that feels both intimate and public, like the warmth of human contact in a crowded square.
The bottle itself becomes a small monument: pale glass with a gold cap, dressed in a label where angular typography echoes the geometric thrust of the city’s skyline. It sits comfortably in the hand, neither too precious nor too austere, the kind of fragrance that asks to be worn rather than admired from a distance.
West 34 is available now at Macy’s and macys.com.
