Spinelli Kilcollin’s founders reveal the pieces they cannot live without

Since 2010, Yves Spinelli and Dwyer Kilcollin have designed jewellery to wear stacked, split and layered across the hand. Now they share the signature pieces from their own collections, and invite New York to a rare studio activation this weekend.

The Aquarius ring arrived first. When Yves Spinelli designed it in 2010, it became the foundation of everything that would follow: a piece so essential that he spreads it across three fingers and finds the weight comforting enough never to remove. The ring that started Spinelli Kilcollin remains his daily constant, the one piece he reaches for without question.

Modularity has been the beating heart of their practice from the beginning. Dwyer Kilcollin designed the Asha hoop in 2011 as part of what would become the Arc collection, a piece that lives in constant transition. Single earring one day, pendant the next. This fluidity of purpose defines how both makers think about jewellery: not as fixed objects but as elements in a personal narrative, rearranged by the wearer according to mood and moment.

The Sonny ring, born from a wedding band created for a dear friend, distils their philosophy into its most elegant form. Two plain metal bands sandwich a central diamond band, delicate yet architecturally bold. Since its release in 2014, it has become one of their most beloved designs, and for Yves it remains a perfect expression of how they balance restraint with presence.

The Titan silver link necklace speaks to Dwyer’s personal obsession with layering and stacking. Designed years ago for his own neck, it became the seed from which the Élan collection grew. Released last month, Élan represents years of refinement, a collection that understands what happens when you wear metal as a daily language rather than an occasional adornment.

The Circe Marquise ear cuff marks a newer chapter in Dwyer’s relationship with jewellery. He began designing earrings only when the brand started making them, and subsequent piercings gave him licence to craft what he calls ear stories: layered, considered narratives told through multiple piercings. The Marquise cuff, so comfortable he has not removed it since putting it on, shows how intimately these pieces understand the body they adorn.

The Raneth ring closes the circle. Named for another friend and collaborator, it emerged from a conversation about scale and delicacy. At a time when Spinelli Kilcollin was still making heavy linked rings, Raneth wanted something bolder yet more refined. They scaled down their Orion design and reduced the annulets from three to two, a small gesture that speaks to their willingness to listen and remake.

Yves and Dwyer will be in their studio at 91 Crosby Street in New York on 7 and 8 November, from noon to 3pm, to share these pieces and their gift guide in person.
