The Union Club has commissioned two original Christmas card designs from illustrator Tamsin Morse, each rendered in her distinctive style of watercolour, ink and mixed media. The cards arrive in carefully considered packs containing five of each design, accompanied by Union red envelopes that speak to the thoughtfulness of receiving correspondence by post.
Morse’s first design shows a figure in a deep crimson coat trimmed with striped detail, crowned with a magenta hat, standing beside evergreen trees rendered in warm ochre and teal washes. Her second composition depicts a reader absorbed in a scarlet book, surrounded by golden aureate washes and turquoise circular ornaments that float across the composition like suspended moments of reflection.

Both works carry Morse’s hallmark technique: precise pen work layered beneath luminous watercolour, creating a sense of movement and depth that transcends the seasonal greeting. The A5 format suits the intimacy of personal correspondence, while the Union red envelopes ensure that opening each card becomes an event in itself.
Packs of ten cards are available for collection at the Club or for UK postage. Members interested in purchasing should contact the Club directly. Morse’s work remains on view in the Studio exhibition ‘At The Flood’, running through this week.
