November brings Tokyo’s most expansive contemporary art initiative back to the city. Art Week Tokyo 2026 spans five days across a record 56 galleries, museums, institutions and art venues, each neighbourhood connected by a carefully orchestrated programme of exhibitions, talks and experiences that transforms the city into a living gallery.

Movement between venues becomes part of the experience itself. The free hop on, hop off Art Week Tokyo Bus operates November 6 to 8 from 10am to 6pm, threading through multiple routes across the city’s most vibrant art districts. A complimentary wristband collected at the first stop permits unlimited rides throughout the day, whilst participating museums offer reduced admission, making the week as accessible as it is ambitious.

The AWT Focus exhibition unfolds across ten galleries and art spaces simultaneously, creating a thematic conversation that echoes through the city’s landscape. Alongside this, Art Week Tokyo Video and Art Week Tokyo Talks programmes offer deeper encounters with contemporary practice. The week culminates at AWT Bar in Minami Aoyama, where the sensory experience extends beyond the visual: new edible creations collaborate with artist designed cocktails, whilst specially curated sound and performance events create an immersive, multisensory environment that speaks to the week’s expansive vision of what contemporary art can encompass.
