Bremont sends its 41mm Supernova Chronograph to be permanently placed on the moon aboard the newest rover, a feat that cements the British watchmaker’s ambitions beyond the skies. When Astrolab’s Flip rover lands at the lunar south pole no earlier than this summer, the Bremont Supernova Chronograph will be integrated directly into the chassis of the spacecraft via a custom engineered tile plate. It will become the first watch to be placed permanently on the moon, and the first British watch to reach it.

Since 2002, Bremont has been crafting highly durable tool watches, and it is the only company that makes watches end to end in England from design and development to assembly, testing and servicing. The Supernova exemplifies this methodical precision: its 41mm case is crafted from 904L stainless steel paired with a multifaceted decagonal bezel in black ceramic, powered by the BC77 chronometer movement with a 62 hour power reserve.

The aesthetic speaks to the severity of its mission. The dial sits over a layer of Super LumiNova, its grid like structure inspired by solar arrays and solar sail panels, with the dial’s blue glow taking its cues from the luminescent energy of spacecraft. The central chronograph, subdials at three and nine o’clock, and exhibition caseback revealing the decorated rotor all serve function before flourish, the language of a watch built for extremity.

This Christmas, Bremont’s collection spans the terrestrial to the celestial: watches prepared for the ocean’s depths, mountain summits, the cloudless reaches of the sky, and now, the silent terrain beyond Earth. A gift for the adventurer who has already journeyed everywhere else.
