The Overglow Sconce joins Lindsey Adelman Studio’s expanding collection of fixtures that pair mouth blown glass with sand cast bronze cages, each one a small negotiation between form and frame. The series reinterprets 16th century Venetian “lampioni”, those delicate light sources once carried along Venice’s dark waterways. The designer has taken that historical reference and pushed the glass to swell, to gather weight and presence, to refuse the confines of its bronze holder.

What distinguishes this work is the deliberate overblowing of each form. The blown glass appears thin and delicately held in place, but Lindsey, with the help of Michiko Sakano, has exaggerated the forms swelling past their constraints. Artisans build up excess glass, overblow it, and let gravity pull it into sagging forms, creating silhouettes that range from restrained to generously full. The soft peachy tones visible in the imagery carry the warmth of candlelight, yet the sculptural presence of each bulbous globe reads like something caught mid breath, mid exhale.

The curved forms of the cage are cast bronze, giving it a melancholy shape and texture. The collection is offered in classic white and atmospheric jewel tone shades of opal, fog, dew, and plum. Each piece is made to order, with glass forms paired with sandcast bronze frames available in patina brass, aged nickel and blackened bronze, allowing each sconce to become particular to its placement and purpose.
