Audrey Werro’s rise through international athletics has been marked by national records, championship medals and a remarkable 800-metre performance in 2026. Now, the Swiss runner begins a new chapter with OMEGA, joining a brand whose relationship with competitive sport has been shaped by precision, timing and generations of Swiss watchmaking expertise.

Swiss middle-distance runner Audrey Werro has joined OMEGA as a new brand ambassador, bringing one of the most compelling young careers in European athletics into the orbit of a watchmaker with a long association with sport and precision timekeeping.

Specialising in the 800 metres, Werro has established herself through a combination of speed, tactical intelligence and composure. Her progression from junior competition to the senior international circuit has been particularly notable, with medals at Under-20 and Under-23 level accompanied by a series of Swiss national records.

Her partnership with OMEGA comes at a significant point in that progression. The year 2026 has already produced some of the strongest results of her career, including a silver medal in the 800 metres at the World Indoor Championships. She subsequently lowered the Swiss record at the Stockholm and Paris Diamond League meetings, culminating in a time of 1:53.80.

That performance placed Werro third on the all-time world list for the women’s 800 metres and made her the fastest athlete to run the distance in 43 years. For a discipline in which races are frequently decided by fractions of a second, such a mark carries particular significance.

The new partnership was formally introduced at OMEGA’s headquarters in Biel, Switzerland, where Werro was given an opportunity to explore the watchmaker’s manufacturing environment and learn more about the processes behind its timepieces.

For Werro, the association also carries a distinctly personal dimension. As a Swiss athlete representing her country on the international stage, joining a Swiss watchmaker with a longstanding presence in athletics connects two aspects of her identity.

“We all know the brand as a trusted timekeeper and watchmaker, so I feel very proud to be joining the ambassador family, especially as they represent my home country of Switzerland,” Werro said.

Her connection with OMEGA is particularly appropriate given the company’s history with sporting timekeeping. The brand has been involved with the Olympic Games since 1932, when OMEGA supplied equipment and a single watchmaker, Paul-Louis Guignard, travelled to Los Angeles to time every track and field event. The relationship has since developed into one of the most established partnerships between a watchmaker and international sport.

OMEGA has continued to develop increasingly sophisticated systems for recording sporting performance, including electronic timing, photo-finish technology and high-speed cameras. In athletics, where the difference between victory and defeat can be measured in hundredths of a second, accurate timing is integral to the competition itself.

That heritage provides a natural context for a partnership with an 800-metre specialist. Werro’s event demands an unusual combination of attributes. Unlike the longer middle-distance disciplines, the 800 metres requires athletes to manage an intense pace while making rapid tactical decisions, particularly during the transition from the first lap into the final stages of the race.

The distance leaves little room for hesitation. Positioning, acceleration and the ability to respond to competitors must all be balanced against the need to conserve enough energy for the closing metres. Werro’s recent performances have demonstrated her ability to operate at that level of intensity.

Her arrival also adds a new generation of athletic talent to OMEGA’s ambassador community. The company has maintained relationships with athletes across a range of sports, particularly disciplines in which precision and performance are central to the outcome. Werro’s emergence on the global stage brings a distinctly contemporary perspective to that tradition.

The connection between athletics and watchmaking extends beyond the simple measurement of time. Both depend upon repetition, discipline, and incremental improvement. For an elite runner, a national record can represent years of training condensed into a performance lasting less than two minutes. In watchmaking, similarly, the smallest details of construction and regulation can determine the precision of an instrument designed to operate for decades.

OMEGA’s Swiss heritage dates back to 1848, when Louis Brandt established a watchmaking workshop in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland. The company later moved to Biel, where its manufacturing operations remain based. The name OMEGA became associated with the company at the end of the nineteenth century following the development of the 19-ligne Omega calibre in 1894, a movement whose manufacturing approach helped shape the company’s subsequent identity. Today, OMEGA forms part of the Swatch Group and continues to manufacture watches in Switzerland, with its history encompassing sport, exploration, spaceflight and professional timekeeping.

That heritage was part of Werro’s introduction to the company. Her visit to Biel offered a look behind the finished watches, placing the partnership within the environment in which OMEGA’s mechanical and technical expertise is developed.

Two watches associated with the announcement further underline the relationship between OMEGA and performance. The Speedmaster Moonwatch Professional, with its 42mm stainless-steel case and rubber strap, belongs to the collection most closely associated with the brand’s history of space exploration, while the Speedmaster 38 offers a more compact 38mm format with a stainless-steel and Sedna™ gold case on a leather strap.

Neither represents the reason for Werro’s partnership, but both illustrate the breadth of a watchmaking house whose identity has developed through distinct areas of technical achievement and design.

For OMEGA President and CEO Raynald Aeschlimann, Werro’s sporting record and Swiss background make the partnership a natural fit.

“As a Swiss athlete who demonstrates high quality and a relentless work ethic, we believe she aligns perfectly with OMEGA’s own values and legacy in athletics,” he said.

For Werro, however, the next stage will be defined on the track. Her 2026 performances have already altered the scale of expectations around her career, and the 1:53.80 Swiss record places her among a very small group of athletes to have reached such a level in the event.

The significance of the partnership therefore lies less in a conventional association between athlete and luxury brand than in the shared language of precision. An 800-metre race is ultimately measured by a clock, but the performance behind that number is built through preparation that cannot be seen on the results sheet.

Werro’s arrival at OMEGA comes at a moment when her own timing is beginning to look remarkable. For a brand whose history has been closely intertwined with measuring extraordinary moments, it is an especially fitting point at which to welcome her into its story.
